Goatskin

Goatskin

This finish is very labor intensive. First, select skins are chosen, then carefully glued to the wood frame. The craftsmen then begin a lengthy process of applying a polyurethane finish in very thin coats, sanding between as many as 8 to 10 coats. This allows for a build up of the finish, resulting in a sumptuous visual texture and depth of field, especially in the darker colors and a wonderful warm subtly in the beige, ivory and natural tones.

Depending on the item being covered, a freeform or straight cut placement of skins is available. Custom colors are possible in this finish for a large project. One must keep in mind that each piece is unique and achieves a one of a kind status once completed.
